Professor Flanagan
Professor George Flanagan is a fellowship trained consultant podiatric surgeon. His training concluded in Northampton however training and experience was obtained at various national and international institutions. As a podiatric surgeon, Professor Flanagan has the unique combination of being qualified as a podiatrist with many additional years of training solely in surgery of the foot and associated structures. This allows him to have specialist annotation with the Health & Care Professions Council as a podiatric surgeon, specialising only in treatment of the foot and ankle.
Having performed over a 1000 surgical procedures during his training (and naturally many more since becoming a consultant) his experience has seen him complete basic and higher surgical training at various sites throughout the UK, in addition to experience gained within surgical units in Germany and the USA. In particular he served an externship In Connecticut, USA and Boston, USA, the latter as part of the Harvard Medical School teaching program. Training culminated in a specialist fellowship in limb preservation surgery within Manchester Vascular Centre at Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Professor Flanagan visits a leading foot & ankle clinic in the lake district to provide consultation and specialist non surgical treatment for a range of foot and ankle conditions mainly focussing on sports and musculoskeletal conditions. At this clinic he specialises in assessment, advanced diagnostics such as ultrasound and guided injection therapies.
Within the Lake District area Professor Flanagan and the Z W team have become a renowned centre for specialist referral and treatment for complex foot and ankle conditions often taking referrals from other health care professionals and self referrals from all over the UK for specialist opinion.
Based within the Lake District this allows professor Flanagan the opportunity to assess and treat the many walkers, runners and keen sports people who access the local area.
